Aims and Outcomes

Aims

  • To build creative capacity in Canadian arts and learning.
  • To strengthen bridges between all interested stakeholders.

Outcomes

  • discuss and identify guiding principles that lead to specific actions in all four areas of the Symposium.
  • articulate an informed, inclusive relationship between artists and teachers in arts education.
  • facilitate an inclusive informal pan-Canadian national network of all interested in arts learning.
  • articulate accepted components for teacher education in all the arts.
  • promote partnerships among teachers, artists, community organizations, concerned institutions, arts funders and others.
  • promote a national centre of research or information about arts learning across Canada that is a clearing house available to all.
  • promote an ongoing web-site forum of dialogue about all national issues that will continue beyond the account set up for the Symposium itself.
  • make recommendations to feed into the agenda of the next international arts education conference.
