Barbara L. Cornish studied piano in Saskatoon with Walter Thiessen and Dr. Lyell Gustin, and with Thomas Manshardt at the University of Regina. After teaching piano and theory in Saskatoon, she moved to Caronport, Sk. For twenty-one years she taught piano, theory and piano pedagogy at the Briercrest College. For seven of those years she served as Chair of the Music Department. After moving to Winnipeg in 1998, she taught with the University of Manitoba Preparatory Division (Music) and at Providence University College. Presently she maintains a private studio in her home.
Mrs. Cornish teaches Piano, Theory, Harmony, Counterpoint, Analysis and Piano Pedagogy. She conducts master classes, and enjoys working as a consultant for teachers and their students in preparation for examinations, auditions, competitions or other performances.
In Mrs. Cornish’s students have received scholarships and awards from assorted organizations and institutions. Various students been recipients of the RCM Gold Medals in Piano and Piano Pedagogy.
