Position Summary
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Researcher/ Database Coordinator plays a key role in populating a database and creating an online map of the Ontario arts and learning sector. The ideal candidate will tirelessly mine the internet for detailed data and will keep immaculate records of data sources. He or she will know how to create an attractive, user-friendly online map and will be passionate about populating it with comprehensive data. The candidate will be comfortable using a range of research methods, including, but not limited to, email and phone calls. The Researcher/Database Coordinator will be able to work from home with minimal supervision and will occasionally be required to attend work and research meetings. This contract position is for 35 hours a week, with salary commensurate upon experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
Research
- Research, analyze and compile data gathered from various sources, including the internet, online surveys, email and phone calls
- Create and maintain online map with detailed contact information
- Input data collected into database and ensure map is updated and representational of sector
- Extract data for reporting purposes
Database Management
- Manage CiviCRM backend and its data operations including establishing/building, coding, testing technical solutions for online initiatives
- Establish email templates, segment contacts in database geographically and demographically for email and event communications
- Work with colleagues to identify appropriate segments for cross marketing and fundraising initiatives
- Ensure that physical and electronic membership record filing systems and databases are current, accurate, and organized.
- Utilize the database to retrieve information required for program management and reporting
- Perform all updates to the website, including: testing and strategic review of functionality, implementing changes, and working with colleagues to update content to all sections of the website, in English and French.
- Manage events calendar, including national third-party events
Other duties
- Establish a fundraising segment within the main database
- Work with other staff to ensure that the database records are maintained and updated in an accurate manner
- Undertake the technical deployment of any integrated online initiatives for marketing, donor stewardship and retention, and other database initiatives.

Skill Requirements:
A post-secondary degree or certificate
Extremely organized with acute attention to detail
Previous experience conducting research, providing analysis and writing reports
Excellent typing and data entry skills
Experience in relevant digital marketing, eCRM platforms, design and technical support or related fields of study
Experience using databases, extracting data, manipulating and managing information input, and analysing results statistically and quantitatively
Functional and existing knowledge working with CRM systems, modern email marketing tools, content management systems (CMS), and database systems
Functional and existing knowledge coding in HTML, basic CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), MySQL, understanding of APIs
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
A professional, friendly and approachable demeanor
Assets:
Experience working in the charitable sector, especially in arts and/or education
Specific experience with CiviCRM and Drupal
Bilingual (French / English)
