Brazilian percussionist, singer-songwriter and artist-educator Aline Morales' debut solo album Flores, Tambores e Amores, was met with widespread critical acclaim and quickly reached #1 on Canada’s Folk/World charts. Since 2005, Aline has taught the Afro-Brazilian percussion genre called maracatu in Toronto, founding her own troupe called Baque de Bamba which performs extensively throughout Ontario. She also facilitates workshops in schools and social service agencies. Aline also performs as part of the highly-acclaimed New Canadian Global Music Orchestra at The Royal Conservatory of Music.

Baque de Bamba

Baque de Bamba is an Afro-Brazilian percussion group based in Toronto, founded in 2009 by Brazilian percussion artist and JUNO-nominated singer-songwriter Aline Morales. We perform Afro rhythms originating in the northeast of Brazil. The group consists of 25 - 30 people with varying degrees of music expertise, from beginners to professionals, and the group evolves and develops with each new participant. Rehearsals are held every Monday and Wednesday night.
