Melinda draws influence through history, culture and organic form, figures and texture. She is inspired by her Algonquin ancestry, a long-untold story of deep roots hidden in a modern world, and ancient bloodlines tied to the earth. Her paintings show the duality of the untamed wilderness, vibrant, organic colours, and the interference of man-made structures and the effects of pollution, violence and destruction. Each canvas represents an illustrated story revealed to her in her personal exploration of origins.
