Outreach Programs
The Hub 2.0 - The Red Deer Arts Council is excited to present a new outreach program aimed at serving our vibrant community of people with developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities! The Hub on Ross was a beloved space that offered plenty of arts programming aimed at these folks for years, but the pandemic and funding cuts put an end to the to the community that was built in that place. We at the Red Deer Arts Council believe that these folks matter and want to make a new space full of creativity, self-expression, belonging, and social integration.
We reached out to the City of Red Deer, the YMCA Northside Community Centre and several granting agencies across the city and region to help us re-create the magic in a new space. For the moment, it's on a smaller scale, but we are excited for the growth potential of this new program.
Join us for the program every Wednesday from September to June at the YMCA Northside Community Centre! Programs offered are:
Mixed Media Art with Wendy Meeres @10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Strum & Drum with Dean Ray @12:45 pm – 1:45 pm
Creative Open Stage, featuring Karaoke! with Jason Steele @2:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Sessions are drop-in, but check-in is required at the front desk. All activities are free to the public and you may stay on site between activities and socialize with friends over lunch in the grounds. We’re so excited to welcome the many Friends of the Hub to these programs!
We are grateful to the Red Deer & District Community Foundation, Servus Credit Union, the Lifelong Learning Council of Red Deer and the City of Red Deer for their support of this program!
