Founded by choreographer and dancer Alvin Erasga Tolentino in 2000, Co.ERASGA has a distinguished international reputation with its vision of hybrid dance, diversity and collaborations with other artistic practices and multimedia.

At the heart of Co.ERASGA is Artistic Director Alvin Erasga Tolentino, a Filipino-Canadian artist of remarkable commitment, talent and energy, whose diverse cultural background and heritage has been a driving force for much of the company’s work. In addressing themes that reflect Tolentino’s individuality, global awareness and ethnicity, Co.ERASGA exposes and explores issues of cultural identity, gender, hybridity, and promotes cross-cultural dialogue.

Celebrating its 21st anniversary in 2021, Co.ERASGA has created critically acclaimed contemporary dance productions: SOLA, BATO/Stone, MINORI, Volt, She Said, Field, OrienTik/Portrait, BODYGlass, PARADISE/Paradis, ADAMEVE/Man-Woman, Shadow Machine, EXpose, Unwrapping Culture, and most recently Collected, Traces and Still Here.

  • Group Classes

    Our Youth & Senior Outreach, a series of free dance classes for youth and seniors, is offered semi-regularly at home in our yearly programming through our partnership with other organizations and schools- this initiative is also extended while on tour especially to developing countries in South Asia.

  • Workshops

    Our EXchanges series is an artist exchange program supporting the local dance community in its pursuit of artistic excellence by engaging with other Canadian and/or international dance artists outside of Vancouver that are contributing to the milieu. These events are for professional and non-professional artists. We host these events free of cost to remove financial barriers to participation.

  • Outreach Programs

    Co.ERASGA’s ongoing community outreach project MigARTion is a collaborative artistic undertaking between the company and MIGRANTE BC, a grassroots organization for newcomer Filipino migrant workers and immigrants. Through workshops with professional artists in voice (Jeremiah Carag), theatre (Dennis Gupa), dance (Alvin Erasga Tolentino), and visual art (Bert Monterona), a committed group of migrant workers have come together to participate in up to 14 sessions of artistic creation to express their personal stories of migration through the fine and performing arts.
