Laura Levitsky, a Canadian nature and wildlife artist, has been recognized by both provincial and national wildlife organizations for her spectacular depictions of the natural world. Her meticulous attention to detail and methodically researched subject matter enhance Levitsky’s tranquil compositions. An outdoor enthusiast, she travels frequently to research her subjects in their natural habitat, believing that there is no substitute for personal experience. A passionate conservationist, some of her work is produced to promote and raise funds for conservation. She hopes her work engages and motivates viewers to appreciate and protect the natural world and its habitats.
Laura always had a love for wildlife and painting. Laura grew up on the wide-open Saskatchewan prairies and spent much of her childhood travelling through the United States with her family where she was born. She now resides in British Columbia and feels fortunate to have been exposed to such a diversity of natural landscapes. Although she painted and sketched throughout her elementary and high school years, it wasn’t until the fall of ‘99 when she began turning her love for painting into a career. She quickly became recognized as one of BC’s representational wildlife painters, earning numerous distinctions including Ducks Unlimited Canada Waterfowl Stamp and Print 2015 & 2018, Artists for Conservation Medal of Excellence, BC Wildlife Federation Artist of the Year as well as Awards of Excellence and People’s Choice Awards from many of the juried art shows. Laura’s prints can be found in private collections across Canada and the United States.
