Huibert graduated from Langara College in 1972 with an arts major. Shortly after graduation Huibert was transferred to Chilliwack by Eatons, the company he worked for. There he was active as the presentation and display manager. Huibert continues developing and honing his skills as an artist.
In 1976 he and his wife Karen purchased Artisan - The Store. It was at this time that Huibert began teaching painting and continuing a process of learning new skills in watercolour, oil, and acrylics.
In 1981 Huibert had several shows in Calgary, Vancouver and Chilliwack. After several successful art shows in 1989-1993, Huibert concentrated on commissions ad other interests involving travel and 'The Artisan'. This is a defining time in Huibert's journey as an artist and is the beginning of his adventure into mixed media, and representation in over twenty countries around the world.
