  TNB Young Company: For over 40 seasons, Theatre New Brunswick Young Company has been bringing the magic of live theatre to schools in communities large and small across New Brunswick. Our shows are chosen for relevance, educational content and most importantly great story-telling. TNB Young Company nurtures emerging professional actors who are supported by talented designers and production staff. All of our work is made right here in New Brunswick! For most students, TNB Young Company is their first introduction to live, professionally produced theatre. In many of the smaller communities in which TNB Young Company performs, it is also students’ only access to theatre. All shows are carefully selected for their relevancy, high educational content and themes. They also serve to showcase a host of talented designers and production staff, all of whom are from New Brunswick. In addition, this process nurtures emerging New Brunswick professional actors.

  Since it was founded in 1999, TNB Theatre School endowed by the Stephen Graham Bird Trust has offered outstanding training in acting, voice and movement, singing and dance in a fun and supportive environment. Playtime Theatre: Kindergarten - Grade 2 Through theatre games, song and dance, students will explore and expand their creativity, imagination and confidence. Junior Acting: Grades 3 - 5 Students receive introductory training in acting while embarking on a play creation process that focuses on story building, character creation and collaboration. Junior Musical Theatre: Grades 3-5 Students will receive introductory training in music, voice, dance and acting as they bring to life a well-loved musical that they will perform for friends and family at the end of the week. Intermediate Musical Theatre: Grades 6 - 8 Students' acting, voice and dance skills will be challenged and expanded as they work with a music director, choreographer and director to bring a popular musical to life. Intermediate Acting: Grades 6-8 Students study acting theory, movement and voice technique as well as different forms of performance and storytelling through various workshops. As a group, students will learn about different aspects of bringing a production to life, as they collectively select, adapt and design a one-act, fully produced production mentored by professionals. Senior Musical Theatre: Grade 9- Age 19 Our senior students study singing, dance and acting. A high degree of skill and discipline is required. This highly-focused course culminates in a full-length, fully-produced spring production at the Fredericton Playhouse, mentored by professionals. Senior Acting: Grades 9-12 Students will study advanced movement, acting theory, voice, as well as additional workshops in preparation for further theatre studies. Students will learn about scene study and script analysis as they collectively select the full-length script that they will stage in a fully produced production mentored by professionals. Intro to Musical Theatre Dance: Grades 6-12 Intro to Musical Theatre Dance is for students interested in learning about the world of musical theatre dance! The class explores multiple genres as well as basic dance technique. No prior dance experience is necessary. All students will gain expertise and confidence in dancing in musicals while learning in a fun, encouraging and safe environment. Musical Theatre Dance Technique: Grades 6-12 This class is designed for students with dance experience looking for a more challenging approach to musical theatre dance. The class explores multiple genres as well as dance technique, conditioning, and flexibility training. All students will gain expertise and confidence in dancing in musicals while learning in a fun, encouraging and safe environment.

  Every Monday in July and August there’s an air of anticipation at the TNB Studio on Whiting Road as a new class of students gathers for a week of extraordinary theatre and extraordinary fun. By Friday new friendships will be formed, new skills learned and a production performed for family and friends. Intermediate/Senior Acting: Grades 6-12 Focusing on acting training and performance, students will study acting theory, voice work, and movement. Students will also take workshops in various different performance styles such as pantomime, improvisation, puppetry, and physical theatre. These skills will be applied through monologue and scene studies that will be presented at the end of the week for friends and family. Improv 101: Grades 6-12 Students will work with professional improv company Hot Garbage Players to learn the fundamentals of improvisation. This intensive course will focus on developing skills such as creativity, listening, quick thinking, and the concept of “group mind” – the ability to be creatively in-synch with your cast mates. At the end of the week, students will present an improvised performance in the style of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" for family and friends. Musical Theatre Dance Intensive: Grades 6-12 This intensive is designed to help students improve and explore their dance knowledge in the world of Musical Theatre. We will be focusing on conditioning, flexibility training, and technique to better understand the way we move. This class will also learn a selection of choreography in Tap, Jazz, and other styles suited for the Broadway stage.
