Denise Préfontaine is a Canadian artist of Métis ancestry. She lives in Winnipeg where she creates objects and installations featuring the beauty of colour, light, and nature. She excels at creating artwork for a specific site or context, drawing on her background in architectural design to create artworks which capture the unique features inherent in the situation and the physical setting.
After graduating with honours from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Manitoba in 1984 (Bachelor of Interior Design), Denise went on to work as a designer-maker, art educator, and curator before bringing all of these experiences together in her work as a public artist.
