Cassandra Eve Brown creates acrylic and digital paintings with a focus on folklore, fairy tales and myths. She is inspired by nature, nostalgia and narrative. Cassandra has a special interest in fairy lore with Canadian origins, but also adapting traditional fairy and folktales to a familiar place; the Canadian landscape. Acrylic paintings are created by layering resin and acrylic paint, slowly building up the image from background to foreground. The depth and layering allow for the image to shift as the viewers move around the painting. This is meant to mimic the oral and written traditions of the folktale narrative that inspires the paintings, but also create a sense of whimsy.
