Joshua Agar

Josh has recently completed his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Vancouver Island University in May of 2013. He began formally studying the instrument when he attended his first year at Keyano College in Fort McMurray. He completed the 3-year classical diploma program before switching his focus from classical music to jazz music, which lead him to VIU. He has studied and taken lessons from several prominent Canadian musicians such as Bill Prouten, Greg Bush, Brad Turner, Joel Gray and Chase Sanborn.

As of September of 2014, Josh now resides in Edmonton, Alberta. Presently he is employed by the Edmonton Suzuki Charter School as their trumpet instructor.

Josh is a fluent player in many styles of music including, but not limited to; big band swing, small combo jazz, solo classical, orchestral, ska, rock, and funk. Josh’s intentions are to lay roots in the various Edmonton music scenes, keeping an eye out for freelance opportunities to continue expanding both as a performer as well as a teacher.
