Allison Cooke

Allison Cooke began Suzuki cello lessons at the age of five with Jo-Anne Goyder. Inspired by her own Suzuki experience as a student, she decided that she wanted to become a Suzuki teacher by the age of 8. She graduated with an Honours Bachelors of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2012, where she studied with Paul Pulford, Simon Fryer, and members of the world-renowned Penderecki String Quartet.

Allison has studied Suzuki pedagogy for Books 1 through 5 under Sally Gross, David Evenchick and Catherine Walker, and has taken supplemental instruction in teaching Suzuki group classes with Carey Beth-Hocket. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the Ontario Suzuki Association. She is continuing her education in the Suzuki Method through training courses offered at Suzuki Institutes.

She is an active performer as a soloist at various community venues throughout the Guelph/Kitchener-Waterloo Area, and as a member of the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra under Sabbatino Vacca.

Allison currently teaches at the Hamilton Suzuki School of Music—hssm.ca— and at her home studio in Guelph.
