Soprano Megan Wittig has appeared in numerous operatic productions, most notably The Marriage of Figaro (Susanna), The Magic Flute (First Lady), Dido and Aeneas (First Witch), and A Hand of Bridge (Geraldine). Recent concert appearances include Handel’s Messiah and Schubert’s Mass No. 3 in B-flat major, both with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra. Upcoming performances include the role of the Gingerbread Witch in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel in January 2016. Under the mentorship of Dr. Blaine Hendsbee, Megan has received both a Bachelor of Music with Distinction (2012) and Master of Music with Distinction (2015) from the University of Lethbridge.
Megan has attended many summer programs throughout Canada, including the Opera NUOVA 10-Day Summer Opera Intensive in Edmonton, the Vocal Techniques Workshop in St. Andrews, and the Southern Alberta Vocal Experience in Lethbridge. As well, Megan has sung in numerous choirs, including the University of Lethbridge Singers, University of Lethbridge Women’s Chorus, and Medicine Hat College Girls’ Choir. Highlights include travelling to England, Scotland, Wales, and China. Megan is an accomplished pianist with fifteen years of training, and greatly enjoys teaching private voice lessons at the University of Lethbridge Conservatory of Music.
