Claudette Caron has recently re-located to Winnipeg from Brandon, Manitoba where she maintained a large and successful independent piano studio. Her students consistently won awards at the local and provincial levels and have distinguished themselves as scholarship recipients in music programs in Canada and the USA.
Claudette completed advanced studies in solo and duo-piano with Alma Brock-Smith at the University of Manitoba. She continued her duo studies with Phyllis Sellick in London and solo piano studies with pianist Robin Harrison at the University of Saskatchewan, earning her Licentiate Diploma from Trinity College, London under his guidance. She pursued her interest in chamber music in the Ford/Caron flute and piano duo with flautist Robert Ford from 1989 to 2010. In 2011, she and her sister Yvonne Ingram premiered Piano Island, a piano duet written by Dr. Kenneth Nichols, inspired by his experiences in China and dedicated to them. As a solo pianist Claudette has presented recitals at Brandon University, the University of Manitoba, and the University of Winnipeg, as well as for the St. Matthews Cathedral Te Deum Series. She recently performed as part of the MRMTA fundraising Serata concert, and she was an accompanist at the CFMF National finals in 2017 and 2018. She has travelled throughout Canada as adjudicator, and as a RCME examiner.
Claudette teaches all levels of piano and is delighted to be back in Winnipeg where her music career began. She is building a new and vibrant piano studio.
