Peter Davis was born in Toronto and studied at the Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting in London, England from 1961 to 1964.
He moved back to Toronto in 1965 and worked as a painter, illustrator, photographer and graphic artist in the advertising and magazine editorial fields. His advertising career included positions as production manager and art director. His photography, illustration and graphic design skills led to the field of magazine production as a photojournalist for Maclean’s magazine and many other Maclean-Hunter trade publications. He also did photography and design for Quest and Homemaker’s magazines, then worked for Program Guide and Financial Post magazine doing layout and page design.
For the past 15 years, Peter has designed Umbrella, the Quinte Arts Council’s bi-monthly arts newspaper.
Peter Davis currently resides and maintains a studio on the Bay of Quinte in Prince Edward County.
