Women in Film and Television - Atlantic (WIFT-AT) has been in operation since 2009 and has grown steadily, already attracting more than 220 members in the Atlantic region through word-of-mouth and the distribution of our e-publication, Tidings, to more than 700 industry contacts.
Reflecting the collaborative nature of the screen-based industry in the region, WIFT-AT has been able to function with only a short-term part-time staff member, and the extraordinary efforts of several senior industry volunteers. WIFT-AT is the Atlantic chapter and voice of an international organization (WIFT-International). There are currently 40 chapters and over 14,000 members worldwide, almost all of which are volunteer-run, and a few of which have similar contexts, industry constraints and infrastructure, and membership potential as WIFT-AT.
