  Using one of our shows as a springboard we'll explore the themes of self-awareness, kindness, compassion and generosity with your students. We'll get your kids thinking about their own uniqueness, exploring strength through diversity, considering the importance of good choices and participating in the power of creative collaboration. Using games, group and individual challenges, storytelling, shadow puppetry and movement activities, we'll focus on imagining simple ways each student can make a difference in their world: at home, at school and in the community. Our residence will challenge students to come up with sustainable ideas and initiatives, to carry beyond our time in residency, that will have students excited about practical ways they can make a difference in the world around them. In a faith based context, we'll use many of the activities listed above, but we'll also reinforce timeless truths from scripture that teach us how to approach life with a Biblical worldview. ​ Please call to discuss options (including number/length of sessions, age/size of groups, etc) and a residency package can be tailored for you.   The Secret of Castle Alphabet - Show #1 Themes: Self awareness, uniqueness, making a difference in the world, good citizenship, Show Synopsis: When Mea happens upon a mysterious old castle, she unearths the age old legend that one day, a true heir of the lost kingdom will return. A personal sense of responsibility leads Mea to follow the instructions of the friendly caretaker, while she waits for a ride home. When another castle occupant throws down the gauntlet, Mea's sense of self-awareness, ability to show respect, care, and patience are all put to the test in an ultimate face off. This fantastical, imaginative, and interactive story will challenge students to believe that world change happens one person at a time and that each of them, have the ability to change someone's world, by just being the best version of themselves. Grade Suitability: K–8 Duration: 55 mins Max audience: 500 Something's Rotten at Castle Alphabet - Show #2 Themes: the power of words/social media, mental health awareness and anti bullying. Show Synopsis: Back at Castle Alphabet a great rift exists among those who work and live inside and outside the castle. Pulled out of her own world by castle magic, Paige is very quickly charged with this task: Unite the Kingdom. ​ As she works to complete her quest, inviting insiders and outsiders to an evening party, Paige discovers the source of the feuding and is then put to the test in a deadly duel. A conversation with the King helps Paige realize that despite completing her quest, she too has been complicit in perpetuating the very thing that’s brought divide in the Kingdom. Pleading to not be returned to her own world, she is assured that the lessons learned at Castle Alphabet apply in her non-magical world too, and that she must return to resume her place, as an irreplaceable part of her world, a gift that should never be withheld.   In addition to your presentation, HeARTbeat Theatre can also provide drama workshops for small groups of students. All three performers have extensive experience instructing students of all ages through a variety of organizations including Quest Theatre and Evergreen Theatre. ​ Our standard workshop is designed to reinforce the themes of our show while giving students a chance to explore their creative side. From movement and self-awareness exercises to storytelling and team building games, this interactive hour will get your kids thinking about their own uniqueness, exploring strength through diversity, considering the importance of good choices and participating in the power of creative collaboration. Our faith based workshop includes many of the same activities, but we connect the lessons learned to their scriptural context and explore ideas through the lens of a Biblical worldview. HeARTbeat workshops are designed to be facilitated with a teacher supervisor present and are best for groups of no more than 30 students/workshop leader. Please call to discuss options (including number/length of sessions, age/size of groups, etc) and a workshop package can be tailored for you at an additional price. • Camps
  
  Bring us in to do a Drama Camp! In a half day camp, we'll provide 3 hours of theatrical fun each day! Each of our camps kick off with a HeARTbeat performance. Next we'll jump into a fun filled week of exploring drama skills like concentration/focus, observation, movement, voice, expression and presence. We'll use games, exercises, simple scripts and team challenges to make this a high energy time kids won't soon forget. Campers will also learn about the elements of story, prop making and even a little shadow puppetry. As part of Drama Camp, each camper will receive a HeARTbeat T-shirt, water bag and drawstring bag. Wanted to do a week of Drama Day Camp? HeARTbeat's your answer! Our full day Drama Day Camp provides 6.5 hours each day We'll kick things off with a HeARTbeat performance and then jump into a fun filled week of exploring drama skills like concentration/focus, observation, movement, voice, expression and presence. We'll use games, exercises, simple scripts and team challenges to make this high energy time kids won't soon forget. Campers will also learn about the elements of story, prop making and even a little shadow puppetry. Working together in the afternoons will allow for collaborative creative presentations and simple scripted performances at week's end, not to mention the challenge of team competition throughout the week that will culminate in our final ceremony! As part of Drama Camp, each camper will receive a HeARTbeat T-shirt, water bag and drawstring bag.
