Nova Writes (formerly the Atlantic Writing Competition) is an annual program designed to honour work by unpublished writers in Nova Scotia. Entry is open to writers unpublished in the category of writing they wish to enter. Prizes are presented at the Celebration of Emerging Writers in the spring.

Music BC Industry Association is a not for profit association serving the for profit and non-profit music industry, including artists from all genres, industry professionals, service providers, studios, promoters, venues, festivals, producers, agents, managers and educational institutions. Music BC is the voice of the BC Music industry locally, domestically and internationally, through active advocacy for funding, policy, red tape reduction, tax credits and creator’s rights.

Grants for Filmmakers

AFCOOP’s filmmaking grants support the production of local independent films through in-kind equipment and resources. There are grants that are open to the public as well as some that are only open to AFCOOP Full Members.

First Thing Grant

Provides resources and training to make your first film including:

SOCAN Foundation fosters, sustains, and promotes the creation of Canadian music.

SOCAN Foundation will strive to expand an environment where Canadian music and its creation are encouraged, and to ensure the public has an enhanced understanding of the value of music.

For Canadian youth, hosted by the League of Canadian Poets.

The  Jessamy Stursberg Poetry Prize for Canadian Youth was established to foster a lifelong relationship between Canadian youth and the literary arts, specifically poetry. The prize is supported through a generous donation from the Stursberg family and other donors in honour of Jessamy Stursberg. The prize accepts submissions from young poets all across Canada, with three cash prizes ($450, 400, and $350) awarded in both the Junior (grades 7 to 9) and Senior (grades 10 to 12) categories.

PhotoED Magazine is designed to promote inspiration and education in Canadian photography.

We print three issues/ year, SPRING, FALL and WINTER sharing exclusively CANADIAN photo-based stories. We encourage students of ALL levels of photographic ability to submit their work for publication + offer educators significantly discounted class set + library subscriptions.
