The Canadian Network for Arts & Learning is pleased to announce that we will be hosting two mapping Hubs as part of the SPARC Symposium 2018 in Cobalt, Ontario from May 24 - 27, 2018. SPARC (Supporting Performing Artists in Rural and Remote Communities) is a network whose purpose is to help ignite and sustain performing arts communities in rural and remote areas of Ontario.
This is an important opportunity for CNAL to connect with artist-educators who are doing important work in communities that are not easily reached through our regular Eduarts Hub series. We will conduct two mapping Hubs throughout our time at the SPARC Symposium - one in English on May 24th, and one in French on May 25th.
The SPARC Symposium, called Translation, will feature plenary sessions and workshops, including one by our Associate Research Tiina Kukkonen. The Symposium will take place in the National Historic Site of Cobalt in Northern Ontario, a region which is a confluence of Indigenous, Francophone, and Anglophone cultures. Cobalt offers the perfect opportunity to witness how the arts are being used as a catalyst for enriching rural economies, reconciling diverse rural cultures, and meeting the pressing and varied needs of local communities.
We hope you will join CNAL, and SPARC's vibrant network of artists working in rural and remote areas at the 2018 Symposium!
