A unique program that engages youth (7 - 14 years) in play-based and exploration-based activities while learning about photography and visual expression. Play is embedded in the program as the basis for all photography activities.
By incorporating alternative methods of facilitation that centre play as a key aspect in learning, skill development and presentation, this program illustrates how artistic expression can be adapted to different learning styles and abilities. The program's activities are designed to be able to be modified per participants' ability levels.
Each session will begin with a sensory activity. Then participants will photograph the previous activity through play/exploration-based techniques (photo hunt, macro/micro photography, time-lapse, slow shutter speed etc.). Activities are designed for body-mind learning and authentic visual expression.
After 7 sessions, participants will select their favourite photographs to be printed and exhibited at (venue TBA). An exhibit opening will be held and participants may invite friends and family to celebrate their work.
