Celebrate the Works of Young Artists at the Summer Teen Programs Art Exhibition
The exhibition showcases the work of talented students from diverse disciplines, including illustration, painting, animation, drawing, game design, graphic design, and industrial design.
Emily Carr University invites all art enthusiasts, families and the general public to come together and celebrate the artistic achievements of exceptional young talents at our Summer Teen Programs art exhibition!
Step into ECU’s campus and you’ll be captivated by the drawings, paintings, and mixed media works embellishing gallery walls. Sculptures and models fill the airy spaces, while interactive media and animations project on infinite loops.
Emily Carr University has long been synonymous with excellence in art, media and design education, nurturing the next generation of critical makers and thinkers. Students ages 13 to 18 from the Summer Institute for Teens and Junior Arts Institute programs have spent the past month honing their craft and developing their final projects.
The two programs culminate with a public exhibition of student work installed throughout the Michael O’Brian Exhibition Commons at ECU.
Join us for our opening reception on July 26, 2024, from 2PM to 4PM. The exhibition is open to the public and runs from July 26 to August 9, 2024.
About the programs
The Summer Institute for Teens (SIT) is an immersive, pre-university program taught by professional artists and designers. Over one-month, students build their portfolios and prepare for the next steps in their creative careers. SIT offers students training in a variety of disciplines, from painting to game design - the newest curriculum to be added. The program empowers students through the development of technical skills while they explore new ways of expressing themselves creatively.
The Junior Arts Institute (JAI) builds foundational knowledge while emphasizing skill development and the creative process, and helps prepare younger students for the Summer Institute for Teens. In this two-week program, students explore 2D and 3D art-making, completing a variety of projects in drawing, painting, animation and soft sculpture.
