The Hammer Band organization currently runs its From Violence to Violins program in the classrooms of 35 junior and middle schools in the high risk Toronto neighbourhoods of Jane and Finch, the Regent Park area, Northeast Toronto and in Brampton.
Children who learn to play an instrument and perform together learn important life skills such as self-discipline, teamwork and resilience. Studies show that music education has many benefits: improved academic performance, lower drop-out rates and stronger communities.
We work in the community to help children change their tune!
