Donna-Fay's love of drawing, painting, and art has been a life long passion and journey. Now working from her own studio on Saturna Island, her images of dancers, landscapes, animals, and multicultural symbols, have exploded into colourful fabric multimedia collages. The work erupts with movement, joy, originality, and harmony with nature.
Donna's multimedia approach uses a variety of fabrics combined with drawing, painting, batik, and textile dyeing. The delicate cutting of material and eye to detail enhance the beauty and richness of textures and patterns. Many of the pieces are texturally enhanced with machine embroidery creating a visual and tactile richness.
Donna's current works stem from her previous collection of intaglio prints collectively called "Dreamscapes", also available in the gallery. These intaglio prints use a variety of etching techniques such as hard ground, soft ground, aquatint, two colour plates, and viscosity printing.
