Originally from Saskatoon Sk., Karla Doell moved to the beautiful Okanagan Valley, British Columbia in 2007 where she now resides with her husband and son. She finds inspiration from her travels and exploring new surroundings, incorporating her own photographs into mixed media paintings.

“As a photographer, my work explores the use of photo-based images as a starting point to initiate the process. Using a combination of endless oceans, dreamy trees, and playful florals, I add my mark with painterly brushstrokes, spray paint, drips, and splatters to give it my own personal touch, blurring the lines of naturalism and collaborating the two mediums to create a composition.

I continue to travel, photographing places that are full of culture and color that bring inspiration to my next body of work.”
