Moe is a prize-winning embroiderer, receiving First Place for Piecework Magazine’s Needleworker of the Year 2003 Embroidery Award for a silk shading dog portrait. She earned her second award in 2004 from the Embroiderers’ Association of Canada – Original Design Award, Non-Professional for an embroidered garden art quilt.
This recognition encouraged her to focus on her passion for embroidery & she spent the next few years developing her skills to create a new personal art form. She uses a mixed media approach in a complex & challenging way to create a 3-D backdrop for her life-like needle painted subjects.
Her subjects are executed in a variation of hand embroidery often described as “needle painting”, “thread painting” or “embroidery painting”. Her art is always conservation mounted & professionally framed (with & without matting).
