Tony came to Canada from Hong Kong in 1996. Since graduating from the Visual Arts program at ECIAD in 2006, his work has revolved around his cultural identity as a Chinese descendant. While primarily a painter, various processes are employed including digitalized images. In fact, Tony interested in using different medium to recreate a piece of work involving sound, images and audiences. According to him, without the viewers’ responses, work is boring. In January 2011, Tony made his first installation art at a public space in Richmond’s Lansdowne Shopping Centre. Later the same year, he had his first solo exhibition at a commercial gallery, Hunter Bisset, as well as a Container Art at PNE, both in Vancouver. Tony also ran Pick up a Pencil, a workshop on discussion, social interaction and drawings, a monthly event at Richmond Art Gallery in 2011.
