Margaret Witschl

Margaret Witschl is an Edmonton painter and photographer. She studied painting, printmaking and art education at the University of Alberta and holds a BFA (1968) and Dip Ed (1971).

During 13 years of employment with the Alberta Government, her work focused on the research and production of art business information. The results in areas such as copyright, marketing, promotion, contracting and commissioning became the basis for first-of-their-kind lectures and courses which she delivered through the Unviersity of Alberta's Faculty of Extension and were made available internationally through educational videos. She administered the Government of Alberta's provincial and international art purchase and art commission program which involved her in on-site work in London, England and New York City.

As a self-employed artist, she has taught studio courses and served as exhibition curator, corporate collection curator, juror and project consultant. Her work has been exhibited across Canada and is represented in public collections. She has received grant funding from the City of Edmonton and the Canada Council.
