Born in Korea, Sean Kim attended the University of Western Ontario to complete his Bachelors (2001) and Masters (2003) degrees in composition. While at Western, Sean studied piano, harpsichord, composition, and instrumental conducting. Currently, he is working on a Ph.D. dissertation in composition under the guidance of Dr. Paul Frehner.
Sean was an instructor of orchestration at the University of Western Ontario and voice leading and arranging at the University of Windsor, conductor of the Blyth Festival Orchestra, and music director and organist for St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Arva.
Currently, he is the music director for Opera Northwest, and St. Paul's Anglican Church in Thunder Bay, an examiner for Conservatory Canada in both practical and theoretical studies since 2004 and an active chamber musician in the city.
Sean is an active member of ORMTA, RCCO and SOCAN.
