My name is Shauna Carpinelli and I am the curriculum chair of the art department and the visual arts teacher at Holy Trinity C.S.S in Courtice Ontario. I am writing to you today to share our pandemic art story!
When the pandemic first hit I quickly realized the impact this would have on my students and even more so for our students in the arts. Art is meant to be shared and with all performances and exhibitions indefinitely cancelled I knew we had to quickly switch gears and break away from tradition to do something new.
With this mindset, I lead my department in creating its first-ever virtual show called "Created to Create". This show was created as a website. In conjunction with our website showcase, we launched 4 promotional trailers to accompany the show. These trailers highlighted the show and each discipline being celebrated in the "Created to Create" showcase.
"Created to Create" became such a success with students, parents, staff and our whole community that we decided to do create another collaborative show this past winter titled "The Fire in our Soul" and we are now preparing to launch our third virtual showcase titled "The Road Less Travelled". "The Road Less Travelled" showcase will be launching June 7th, 2021.
