Animating Your Park – Funding Workshop & Community Social

Join Toronto Arts Council, Toronto Arts Foundation & Park People / Amis des parcs for a FREE funding workshop and community social! This gathering will help you find funding opportunities available for local arts programming in your community. Connect with local artists, community organizers while learning how to plan and host arts events in your neighbourhood parks and public spaces. Anyone interested in learning about arts programming in parks and public spaces is welcome (all ages, artists and non-artists, community organizations, agencies, service providers, etc.) !

Session #3: Public Art Workshop

Are you an artist looking to gain experience in public art? The Public Art Workshop is a FREE workshop will introduce attendees to the public art process and the challenges involved in winning a commission. The workshop is presented by the City of Ottawa Public Art Program in partnership with the Ottawa Art Gallery, and is lead by Artist Adrian Göllner. 

Relation Making in the Context of Racism and Settler-Colonialism

A free multi-day workshop for artists of all disciplines who identify as Indigenous, Black, or as a Person of Colour, between the ages of 15-35. Facilitated by Jin-Sun Yoon and Jin-me Yoon with graphic recording by Tiaré Jung.

Digital Strategy Fund Info Session

During this 90 minute info session, program officers will:

  • Provide an overview of the vision and scope of the Fund
  • Help you understand which program component is right for you
  • Offer tips to keep in mind while you write your grant application
  • Answer your questions

Each session will be followed by an informal networking event to help you connect with others in your community who are also interested in working on digital projects.

1 Contrary 5 Agokwe-Nini (Documentary Film Screening)

The film “1 Contrary 5 Agokwe-Nini” is a talk-show style documentary film hosted by the one and only ‘contrary’ Alik Beavers (aka Sharp Dopler), and features 5 Agokwe-nini guest speakers: Ashley Grenstone, Benny Michaud, Theo Paradise-Ottawa, Kole Peplinski and Carmel Whittle. They discuss gender, sexuality, Indigenous identity, traditional two-spirit roles, terminology, accessing ceremonial spaces, and safe spaces in mainstream society.

COLD WATERS: Media Arts Symposium & Festival

COLD WATERS: Media Arts Symposium & Festival in North Bay, ON happens from June 12-15, 2019. Running simultaneously to the Cold Waters Remote Studio for Northern Ontario artists, the symposium will connect cultural workers with artists from across the region, along with funders, peers, and more. The Sympsium & Festival is facilitated by The Media Arts Network of Ontario / Réseau des arts médiatiques de l’Ontario (MANO/RAMO) and Near North Mobile Media Lab (N2M2L).
