The City of St. John's Grants to Artists and Arts Organizations will make financial resources available to both individual artists and arts organizations in the following disciplines:
- Theatre
- Dance
- Music
- Literary Arts
- Film and New Media
- Visual Art and Craft
The Grants to Artists and Arts Organizations program has the following goals:
- To support the artistic development of individual artists.
- To support arts organizations in fulfilling their mandates.
- To contribute to the grown and sustainability of the St. John's arts community.
- To improve the well-being of the community.
Funding Categories
- Individual Artists: Individual artists may apply once annually for project funding. Project funding is defined as funding to cover costs involved in the creation and/or presentation of works of art in the disciplines of theatre, dance, music, literary arts, film and new media, and visual art and craft.
- Arts Organizations: Arts organizations may apply once annually for operational funding. Operational funding is defined as funding to cover costs involved in the annual operation, programming, and services of the organization.
Eligibility
- Applications must be in one of the six disciplines noted above.
- Individual artists must reside, operate a business within the municipal boundaries, or be a taxpayer of the City of St. John’s.
- Arts organizations must be physically located with the municipal boundaries of the City of St. John’s.
Duration of Grants
- Assistance provided under the Grants to Artists and Arts Organizations Program will be for the period of one year commencing January 1 and ending December 31.
- The granting of assistance in any one year is not to be construed as a commitment by the City of St. John’s to continue such assistance in subsequent years.
