The Gallery’s latest community engagement art projects were called #myessential.

Like many other arts institutions we have pivoted to focus on online activities during this challenging time.

We ❤ love our supporters! In this heartfelt new video, OrKidstra students share love and gratitude in over 14 different languages including Somali, Arabic, Sinhalese, Cantonese, Tigrinya, Spanish, and many more!

Oakville Symphony, a high quality community orchestra just outside of Toronto, shared a series of videos they created for region schools during the pandemic, highlighting the basic elements of music in a clear and engaging way.

This year has certainly been a challenging one; however, our entire Brockton School community has been very diligent about following our provincial guidelines, and because of this, we have been with our World Music Program (WMP) students in person since September!

The Project

We hope to hear a broad range of stories in order to transform these experiences into inclusive art pieces featuring visual storytelling, the spoken word and choral music.

the teachers at maggie music, have continued teaching our students online for the past 15 months. The students have participated in multiple virtual concerts via youtube. 

Before the pandemic shutdowns, I was mainly focused on painting large, contemporary, abstract paintings.  During the pandemic, I took some leftover canvas painting and paired it with leather from a recycled coat and created some wearable art tote bags

Last spring, I composed a multi-level piano piece called "Hope Springs" and invited teachers and students from across Canada to join in performing the music.
