Explore various art techniques in this playful introduction to art for nervous beginners, or anyone who would like to shake things up and try something different. With a step-by-step approach, experiment with drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and more to create unique works of art. Supplies not included. Learn to draw in the diverse styles of Japanese comics and cartoons. You’ll practice design, proportion, expression and body language. Learn to draw your favourite characters, and then create a cast of compelling characters to star in your printed manga comic book. Supplies not included. From designing and storyboarding to timing and editing, create your own dynamic and entertaining animated short film while practicing the hand-drawn animation techniques of anime, Saturday morning cartoons or stop-motion animation with clay or toys. This is an introduction to Kathy Smith's Creative Age Journaling program to improve your overall wellness, self-care and creativity. Reconnect with your creative spirit using a variety of journaling techniques for self-expression including creative writing, mark-making, doodling, sketching, stamping, mixed media and collage.

Supplies needed to get started - notebook, pen or pencil and ruler.

No previous experience is required. In partnership with Creative Age London.

Young Writers Retreat - Grades 8-12

Event Date and Time: 
Tuesday, October 5, 2021 - 6:00pm to Tuesday, December 7, 2021 - 8:00pm

Led by professional playwright, Diane Flacks, this program invites young writers to develop creative playwriting techniques to express their original ideas. Working collaboratively and on their own, participants will experiment with different writing exercises, styles and genres in order to bring a script from page to stage.

Participants will also be paired with a mentor who is part of the Stratford Festival Playwrights Retreat, an annual retreat for professional playwrights offered through the Foerster Bernstein New Play Development Program at the Stratford Festival.

VP Learning Laboratories: Making Environmental Data Meaningful
