CHOEUR PHILHARMONIQUE DU NOUVEAU MONDE-OTTAWA

Dans le cadre de sa 25e saison, la Société philharmonique du Nouveau Monde, son directeur artistique Maestro Michel Brousseau, ses trois chœurs et son orchestre, vous convient à une soirée dédiée à deux grands compositeurs de la scène musicale parisienne du début du vingtième siècle.

 

Gabriel Fauré et Théodore Dubois, ayant des parcours parallèles, ont créé des œuvres magistrales, dont deux seront offertes au public lors de notre concert du printemps, qui commémore le 100ème anniversaire de leur décès en 1924.

In the Arctic North, Sea Ice is synonymous with the sand in the desert. The ice is vital for transportation, for food, for living. And while the temperatures seem inhumane, the Arctic is teeming with life. Indigenous tribes call this frosty land home, but they’re not alone. Polar bears, musk ox, whales, and caribou are some of the arctic animals co-existing with more than 40 different ethnic groups in the north.  

Kurdish Kamāncha at Music Mondays’ Lunchtime Concerts

Shahriyar Jamshidi’s special Kamānche recital will be a combination of improvisation and his compositions reflecting the not-well-presented musical heritage of Kurdistan - the vast area in the West Asia that is spread among countries of Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria.

L'emmener dehors : De la musique et de l'art inspirée par le fleuve Saint-Laurent

Comme le savent tous ceux qui ont passé du temps au bord de la Voie maritime du Saint-Laurent, ce fleuve est loin d'être paisible et tranquille ; il est souvent très bruyant, surtout à l'aube, lorsque les oiseaux commencent à chanter. Guidés par Louise Campbell, les participants découvriront son installation sonore Sources, une installation musicale extérieure inspirée par les Grands Lacs et le fleuve Saint-Laurent, avec des œuvres inspirées par l'avifaune de la baie Georgienne et les grands espaces des Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

Taking It Outside: Music & Art Inspired by the St. Lawrence River

As anyone who has spent any time beside the St. Lawrence Seaway knows, this river is anything but peaceful and quiet; it is frequently very noisy, especially at daybreak when birds start to sing. Guided by Louise Campbell, participants will discover her sound installation Sources, an outdoor installation of music inspired by the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River, featuring works inspired by the birdlife of Georgian Bay to the vast open spaces of the Magdalen Islands.

Red, White and Blues

The Music students of Sir John Franklin High School proudly present Red, White and Blues - a salute to the musical pioneers of the 20th century.  The concert will feature music from many genres, including jazz, musical theatre, classical, rock and country.  All of the school ensembles will be performing, including the Concert Band, Concert Choir and Jr. Band as well as the Instrumental, General and Choral Music classes all directed by Susan Shantora. 

Considering Matthew Shepard

A moving oratorio by Craig Hella Johnson; both an account of and reflection on the hatred that ended Matthew Shepard’s life.

This powerful work offers hope of acceptance and inclusion in a changing world in a concert reflecting on the themes of love and compassion. The three-part fusion oratorio speaks with a fresh and bold voice, incorporating a variety of musical styles seamlessly woven into a unified whole.
